How can you find out if a baby has glue ear following an ear infection and will this have an effect if we travel by air?
Your GP is in the best position to advise on your baby's ear infection.
Whilst ear infections (which may or may not lead to Glue Ear) are very common in babies and young children, you may want to think very carefully before taking him on a flight.
Just as can happen in adults flying with an ear infection (and they understand what is happening), the change in pressure when taking off and landing can be both very painful and distressing to the baby and is therefore not recommended.
If your GP cannot see his eardrum clearly due to the small size of the baby's ear, it is unlikely that a test to check for glue ear would be possible.
