Do I need a sight test if I've been for a contact lens check-up?
If you don't have a current prescription, yes.
In a contact lens check-up, the optician examines the front surface of the eye which is in contact with the lens, checks the quality of vision wearing the prescribed lenses and makes sure that the lenses fit properly.
A comprehensive eye exam measures your sight and determines the exact prescription required for clear vision. It also includes an examination of the eye itself, to screen for conditions like glaucoma and cataract. Indicators of other medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes can also be detected, making the eye test an important overall health check.
