How does arthritis affect the eye?
Arthritis is when various tissues in the body become inflamed, causing pain and stiffness. In some cases the tear glands become inflamed, causing the production of tears to decrease.
Tears are important for bathing the eye, washing out irritants and keeping the eye moist, so arthritis in the tear glands can leave your eye feeling itchy, red and irritated.
